I posted on LinkedIn the other day, asking for questions and you delivered! Here is one that might help you someday.
“I wasn’t paying attention and I accidentally reposted something, can I delete a repost on Instagram?“
Yes, you can – but only from the MOBILE APP.
Go to Your Profile
To find all your reposts, go to your PROFILE – get there by clicking on the round headshot image – usually at the lower right of your screen.
NOTE: all the screenshots for this post are from an android device, IOS similar.
Find Your Reposts
By clicking on that image, you will be taken to your profile. Below your profile info, you should see the small repost icon – it looks like chasing arrows or a recycling icon.
Click on that icon.
Find the Specific Repost
You should now be able to see ALL your reposts. Pick the Repost you want to edit and click on that.
Delete the Repost
Once you click on that image, you see a small drop down menu with the option to DELETE THE REPOST.
Note that you will also have the option to Like, Comment on, Share or Report the post.
Now What Happens?
The repost will no longer appear in your profile, nor will it be shown to your followers.
Any engagement metrics (likes, comments, etc) will be lost.
What is a Repost?
For those who may not be aware of this feature, you can ‘repost’ any PUBLIC content you find in your Instagram feed. To do this, look for the little Repost icon below any post.
This feature functions similarly to an old fashioned retweet – essentially you are sharing that content to your followers, as if it were your own, but the original post is shown so you give credit to the original source/poster.
