Below are the steps to close/ delete your Instagram account
Given all the news today about the proposed changes to Instagram’s Terms of Service (see below for links to some articles outlining the changes and the implications for users) I have received a few client calls. Since the only way to avoid ‘agreeing’ to the new terms of service is to delete your account before January 16th when they go into effect, a few have asked me how they can close their accounts.
Now, I am not trying to incite hysteria and Instagram does insist that these measures are designed to combat SPAM, not to monetize your images but since a few of you have asked, here is a quick walk thru of the steps to close/ delete your Instagram account.

Log in to your account
Click on your name to see the drop down and choose EDIT PROFILE
To the bottom right, there is a link to delete your account
They ask you WHY you want to close it -click on the right to see the drop down of choices.If it is for privacy reasons, please indicate this. There are other options as well and you can say ‘other’ to avoid committing to a specific reason.
There are two more confirmation windows – do read the info there as you will not have access to your photos or be able to open a new account using the username of this account.
